Beyoncé talks about ‘Telephone” video

Singer Beyoncé spoke with radio station Power 106 FM in L.A. about the direction of the video, “Telephone” and why she felt it was something  that needed to be done.

“The video in a lot of ways is more about her even than it is about me. It was sort of a pop-art venture for me to bring her into my world in a way, the video is an attempt for her and I to erase pop music as we know it up until this very point. It’s meant to change the perspective of the world on what a pop music video should be and she’s kind of the vehicle for that. In reality, more people around the world are familiar with her aesthetics than they are with mine. It was something for me to kind of change the way that you see her for one video.”

My two cents: Honestly why is everyone so shocked about the video???  So many people wondered if Gaga had a ‘member’ and she just gave them an answer. She kissed a girl for 2.5 seconds and you can see that on HBO any time.  Aside from those things, how is “Telephone” worse than  Nelly’s ‘Tip Drills,” or Ludacris’s “P**y Poppin”.  I liked the video because it was unique and moved away from the traditional woman in front of a screen singing. Of course Gaga could have done the typical, ‘guy in the club stalking his girlfriend’s phone.’ However, Lady Gaga is far from typical and I’m glad she went ‘there.’  The video is memorable and it’s still being talked about even though it premiered last week. We NEED more creative artists like lady Gaga in this industry. Judging by Beyonce’s comment , she thinks so too.
