Famed rapper Heavy D — real name Dwight Arrington Myers — died yesterday afternoon. He was 44.
According to TMZ< a 911 call was placed from Heavy D’s Beverly Hills home at 11:25 a.m. reporting an unconscious male on the walkway. The rapper turned actor was rushed to the hospital around noon and was pronounced dead at 1 p.m.
The website says when the ambulance arrived, Heavy was conscious and speaking. He died at the hospital shortly after.
Heavy D brought the world hits such as “Nothin’ But Love,” and “Now That We Found Love.” He also wrote and performed the theme song for the hit 90s show In Living Color. Later in his career Heavy D was bitten by the acting bug and made various television appearances.
There are murmurs that Heavy D had pneumonia, but that has not been confirmed.
