Andy Griffith Dies at Age 86
TV pioneer Andy Griffith has passed away. He was 86.
According to WITN News, the actor died at his Manteo, North Carolina home Tuesday morning.
Emergency medical crews responded to Griffith’s home this morning, Dare County Sheriff J.D. Doughtie told WAVY.com.
In 2000, Griffith underwent quadruple heart-bypass surgery and made a full recovery.
Griffith is best known for his role of Sheriff Andy Taylor in The Andy Griffith Show from 1960-1968; and for his role Ben Matlock on the legal drama Matlock, from 1986 to 1995.
