Christina Aguilera Never Made “Get Over Her Weight Comments”

GETTY

Some recent quotes involving Christina Aguilera have spread around the web like wildfire. The quotes insist that Aguilera is telling her critics to get over her weight gain and accept her for how she is. Unfortunately, those quotes have proven to be false, according to EW.

“They are fake,” Christina‘s rep said regarding the quotes.

After perusing the web for a concrete source, EW found the source to be a Tumblr blog and not a reputable source.

“I got tired of being a skinny white girl. I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl… [In 2002,] I had gained about 15 pounds during promotion and during my Stripped tour. They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight. Basically, they told me I would affect [sic] a lot of people if I gained weight — the production, musical directors,” the fake quote read.

But the fake quote didn’t stop there. Here’s the rest: “I told them during this Lotus recording, ‘You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it. They need a reminder sometimes that I don’t belong to them. It’s my body. My body can’t put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore — my body is just not on the table that way anymore.”

The one quote regarding her weight that the singer did say is the following:“Actually, the challenge I’ve always had is being too thin, so I love that now I have a booty, and obviously I love showing my cleavage.”
