Former *N Sync member Chris Kirkpatrick is engaged!
Kirkpatrick, 41, proposed to his girlfriend of two and a half years, Karly Skladany, 28.
The two were vacationing in Italy for a pre-planned wedding excursion, when the singer sporadically popped the question.
“We had a hotel room at the Isle of Capri, overlooking the Mediterranean,” he says. “It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. And it hit me: I wanted to propose to Karly. So I ran to a jewelry store, found the perfect ring and bought it.”
Kirkpatrick asked Skladany’s father for his blessing and he obliged. Later on in the evening, the singer popped the question with an oval-cut diamond ring. “We were sitting on the balcony with a bottle of champagne and I put the ring in her glass,” he says with a laugh. “I know it sounds cheesy, but it was romantic. As soon as I asked her, she said, ‘It’s about time!’ And we laughed. It was spur of the moment, but it was absolutely perfect.”
According to PEOPLE, the pair have not set a date as of yet, but they will soon.
“We’ll figure out exactly how we want our wedding to be,” he says. “We’re both so happy; this is a really good time for us.”
