Sherman Hemsley, known for his role of George Jefferson, has finally been laid to rest.  His funeral comes four months after the actor  passed away at the age of 74.

Hemsley was buried on Wednesday (November 21) in Vista Church in El Paso, more than 100 people attended his funeral services.

The actor died on July 24, 2012, but a battle over his estate prolonged his burial.

Hemsley left his estate to his long-tine friend Enchinton Bernal, but a long-lost half-brother emerged and challenged the Will. The judge ruled Hemsley’s Will to be valid and he was finally laid to rest.

The actor will be buried in Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. Before being bitten by the acting bug, Sherman Hemsley served in the United States Air Force.
