Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Covers ESSENCE Magazine

Dwayne Johnson flashed his million-dollar smile on the new cover of Essence magazine.

Johnson’s show The Hero has been a hit with fans and he has been hitting the gym hard as he film the new Hercules movie.

The actor-wrestler spoke with Essence ‘s senior writer Jeannine Amber on what he wants in a woman, what he loves about Black women and much more.

On the type of women he likes:

“…..engaging in good conversation” is essential in a healthy relationship, but “embracing the power of kissing” doesn’t hurt.

On what he needs and wants in a relationship:

“I want someone who can trust that my big hands are going to take care of them.”

On how his divorce helped him be a better man:

“I want to be a man who is truthful and who won’t let pride get in the way of my ripping myself open to my partner and saying, ‘Here I am. This is me.’ I feel there’s something powerful when a man reaches a point in his life when he can be completely vulnerable.”

  1. Get Him Off The Cover. I am sure at some point Dwayne Johnson could have had Black and Samoan actresses in his movies ( it might be Hollywood). I heard that Dwayne Johnson made a comment that he does not like black women or even would date a black women. So, why is Essence magazine supporting this man? If Essence magazine is for black women, then support us. Even though Dwayne Johnson represent MONEY, don’t let this be the reason you have placed him on the cover. Essence have some Pride. Don’t misunderstand me, there are some great black men out there, but we don’t need to support the ones that are not supporting us. Let him continue dating white women, if that is what he likes, but let People, or US magazine put him on their cover.

  2. Get Him Off The Cover! (It may be Hollywood) I am sure Dwayne Johnson could have had Black and Samoan actresses in his movies. I heard Dwayne Johnson made a comment that he doesn’t like black women and he would never date black women. Soooooo, why are we supporting him. Don’t place him on the magazine because of sells. We talk about supporting one another. Now, we have something like this challenging our courage to see if black women are brave enough to stand together. We are! If he likes white women so be it, go and be happy; but let him get with People or US magazine to get on their cover. We would not allow this with an ordinary black man that is not of Dwayne Johnson stature. So, lets not start now.
