Denzel Washington’s Son Nabs Role on HBO Pilot
John David Washington is taking after his dear old dad.
The son of Denzel Washington has nabbed his first major acting role in HBO’s pilot show, Baller.
John David Washington will be playing the ‘Ricky;’ a highly competitive and highly spiritual pro athlete. Washington will be joined by former UCLA Bruins footballer Donovan Carter, will play ‘Vernon;’ a deeply family oriented pro-athlete, and actor-wrestler Dwayne Johnson is spearheading the project.
Ballers is a 30-minute dramedy that follows the lives of several Miami-based athletes.
The show is a joint project by Mark Wahlberg and Entourage producer Stephen Levinson.
Washington played football at Morehouse College and went on to have a career with the NFL team, the St. Louis Rams. He has a small part in the 1992 film, Malcolm X, alongside his father.
