Eddie Murphy is getting some much-deserved recognition.
The funnyman will receive the Mark Twain Prize in American humor, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.Murphy will receive the award at the 18th annual gala performance in October. The ceremony will be be broadcast on television at a later date.
The Kennedy Center’s announcement said Murphy is “the most commercially successful African-American actor in the history of the motion picture business, and is one of the industry’s top-five box-office performers overall.”
Whoopi Goldberg, Jonathan Winters, Carol Burnett, Lily Tomlin, Steve Martin, are some of the previous recipients of this prize.
