BET to Develop Miniseries About Boy Band ‘New Edition’
New Edition is about to get the miniseries treatment.
Cable network BET, has set its eyes on developing a miniseries about the once-famous boy band, New Edition.
Members Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant will co-produce the miniseries along with the band’s longtime manager Brooke Payne.
The group rose to fame as a quintet in the 80s and brought the world such hits as “Cool It Down” and “Candy Girl.” Member Bobby Brown left the group in the mid-80s to pursue a solo career. Though they’ve broken up several times over the years, they are currently back together.
“From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like the Temptations and the Jackson 5, we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here,” the group said in a statement.
Shooting for the miniseries is scheduled to begin in early 2016.
