Netflix Cancels ‘The Get Down’
Baz Luhrmann’s hip-hop drama for Netflix “The Get Down” has been cancelled.
Netflix has cancelled the show just after one season. Luhrmann addressed the news on Wednesday, via a statement on his Facebook page.
“When I was asked to come to the center of The Get Down to help realize it, I had to defer a film directing commitment for at least two years,” he wrote. “This exclusivity has understandably become a sticking point for Netflix and Sony, who have been tremendous partners and supporters of the show.”
He also mentioned that he is already working on a new film. “The thing with movies is, that when you direct them, there can be nothing else in your life.”
“The Get Down” was a Bronx-based series set in the 1970s, which starred Justice Smith, Herizen F. Guardiola, Shameik Moore, Jaden Smith
