AOL Instant Messenger to Shut Down in December

After 20-years, AOL Instant Messenger will shut down on December 15, 2017.

AIM launched in 1997, and quickly became the new and free way for people to connect, hang out and discover new interests. People could chat with family and friends one-on-one, of they could creative larger groups to interact.

In recent year, due to the popularity of smartphones, Instagram, Twitter and FB the masses have vacated using the instant messaging service.

Though this is the end of an ara, AOL Instant Messenger will continue to be one of the first innovative ways people could communicate with one another outside of letters and landlines.
