Michael Che Becomes First Black Head Writer at SNL
Christmas has come early for SNL’s Colin Jost and Michael Che.
On Tuesday, the pair were named co-head writers at SNL; making Che the first Black person to have the title in the show’s history.
Jost started as a writer at SNL in 2005. Che, who had appeared on ‘The Daily Show,’ joined SNL in 2013. They both began spearheading ‘Weekend Update’ in 2014.
Weekend Update has garnered much attention since the pair took over. With Che making headlines numerous times for calling the president a “Cracker” and using the N-word.
Their new positions will not hinder their current roles.
