El DeBarge Checks Himself Into Rehab

El DeBarge has checked himself into a rehabilitation center. DeBarge’s label, Geffen Records, knew the “Second Chance” singer was having some recent trouble with staying clean and now the label has released a statement for the Crooner.

“I hate to disappoint my fans but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone. I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time,” stated DeBarge.

According to  BlackVoices.com, DeBarge had a relapse in recently and rapper 50 Cent played a significant role in aiding the singer in getting some help.

Regardless, all of DeBarge’s personal appearances and shows have been postponed. DeBarge voluntarily checked himself into rehab.

The singer was slated to appear on the R&B star Kem’s ‘Intimacy Tour’ with Ledisi, which kicks off on Feb. 17 in Houston.

Ciara addresses album sales and touring

Yesterday, experts predicted that Ciara‘s new album, Basic Instinct, would sell less than 50,000 units on its first week.  Of course, this is nowhere near what Ciara and her label hoped for her, but things could always pick up as time goes along. Ciara sat down with the Associated Press to discuss her album sales, her career moves and why she feels she’s be better off touring.

AP: How do you feel when people say that your star as singer has fallen?

Ciara: Even though my last album didn’t do as well as my previous ones, I was still able to go out and make money and tour. Every day is not always the perfect day. Artists that I have loved and admired, who have had a long career, have not had every record or song or video that was always the right choice.

AP: With your previous album not selling well, are you concerned about what type of numbers you put up for “Basic Instinct”?

Ciara: Selling records are becoming smaller fraction of branding and building a long-lasting career. You can sell a lot of records, but can you tour. You can sell records, but where does it go beyond that? That’s a part of building a brand for yourself.

AP: So at this point of your career, going on tour has bigger precedence over album sales?

Ciara: Absolutely. If you can walk away from your career and are successful touring, you’ll always be straight. Artists like Madonna have been doing it for years. She may put out one single, do a tour and gross over $200 million. {Source}

Chelsea Handler photographed in bed with 50 Cent

The more the  we see Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent together, the more it looks as though this is a publicity stunt.  There aren’t many celebrities who will go out of their way to post pictures of their bedroom cuddle sessions, but Handler and Fifty seem to be one of the few.  It’s hard to take this picture seriously when it looks so staged.  This picture was taken from Handler’s Twitpic collection. The picture had the following caption underneath it:

“I don’t know why anyone thinks I would ever date a rapper.”

Soulja Boy’s ‘The DeAndre Way’ dissapoints in its first week

It seems as though Soulja Boy‘s reign of success may be over.  The rapper’s fourth overall studio album, The DeAndre Way, delivered extremely poor album sales in its first week.

The DeAndre Way debuted on the Billboard Hot 200 chart at No. 79 with 13,000 copies sold. That may seem like a lot of copies, but it definitely isn’t for someone who has sold millions in the past.  For year people have said that Soulja Boy was overrated, maybe the rest of the population finally caught on.

Many have counted 50 Cent out in terms of being able to make records, but now that he has collaborated with the late King of Pop on the song “Monster”, people have renewed their faith in the rapper. The video below shows 50 Cent speaking candidly about Michael Jackson and what is was like to work on the record. Many speculate that  the vocals on the new Michael record are not Michael Jackson’s, only time will tell.

For weeks Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson have denied rumors of being romantically involved. However, the two have been spotted in public three times together, the latest being this past weekend.

50 Cent, 35, and Handler, 35, were seen enjoying lunch together on October 31, 2010 in Malibu. The both were dressed down and seemed to be enjoying their day together.  The two eventually sped off in  50 Cent’s Rolls Royce.

At least they’re happy… Stranger things have happened – ie. DaBrat and David Guest.
