“I had a great childhood and have a great family. My siblings are awesome and no matter what happened financially we always made the best of it.”
On being in the Kitchen-
“I like cooking everything. I get on food blogs and save recipes and go back and make them. I make fried chicken, I’m in charge of the macaroni and cheese on holidays. I can make lasagnas and pastas – I’m a good cook!”
On fulfilling the dreams on her vision board-
“I had made a vision board in 2006 or 2007 after I graduated high school. In 2008 I found it. I looked at it and I could take everything off from the board.”
On breaking down boundaries-
“When people look at me, I genuinely think they don’t see me as anything other than Naya which is crazy and so cool. I feel like I’ve gotten to a place where I have transcended color lines and it’s a big testament to playing a lesbian character on TV because everyone’s so accepting of everything and I think that’s beautiful.”

Adele looks absolutely stunning on the latest cover of Rolling Stone magazine. It is refreshing to see a real musician on the cover after that Snooki mishap and Adele couldn’t have been a better choice. Adele, who happens to have the No.1 album out right now, discusses everything from body image, to Beyonce to having stage fright. Read some of the interview snippets below.
Adele on her weight: “My life is full of drama and I won’t have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like,” she tells Rolling Stone contributing editor Touré. “I don’t like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don’t think I’d get my tits and ass out for no one.”
But Adele has no beef with other female recording artists who choose to flaunt their bodies. “I love seeing Lady Gaga’s boobs and bum,” she says. “I love seeing Katy Perry’s boobs and bum. Love it. But that’s not what my music is about. I don’t make music for eyes. I make music for ears.”
Many of the songs on her hit album 21 were inspired by a break-up with her boyfriend. “He was artistic, but not romantic,” she says. “We’d just bicker over a cup of tea or the fact that my lighter wasn’t working.” Nonetheless, Adele says, “He made me an adult and put me on the road that I’m traveling on.”
Even though Adele has been on stage numerous times, she has severe stage fright: “I’m scared of audiences,” she says. “One show in Amsterdam I was so nervous I escaped out the fire exit. I’ve thrown up a couple of times. Once in Brussels I projectile vomited on someone. I just gotta bear it. But I don’t like touring. I have anxiety attacks a lot.”
Adele’s feelings on her estranged dad speaking with a British tabloid: “I never knew my dad,” she says. “He has no f-ckin’ right to talk about me.”
Adele on her alter ego, called Sasha Carter – a mash-up of Beyoncé’s Sasha Fierce and June Carter: “I was about to meet Beyoncé,” she says, “and I had a full-blown anxiety attack. Then she popped in looking gorgeous, and said, ‘You’re amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to God.’ Can you believe she said that?” Later, “I went out on the balcony crying hysterically, and I said, ‘What would Sasha Fierce do?’ That’s when Sasha Carter was born.”
