Queen Latifah Fronts January Issue of Good Housekeeping

Queen Latifah is all-smiled on the January 2014 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

In this issue, the actress-turned-host reveals that she used alcohol as a coping mechanism. She also opens up about body and  her New Year’s resolution  in this issue of  Good Housekeeping!

On her brother’s motorcycle accident:
“My life was rocked to the core. Riding was one of the things Lance and I did together a lot. I had to get back on. It was like a [healing] potion.”

On her friend’s death:
“Drinking a bunch of alcohol, numbing myself [took the pain away]. Every day I would be faded, like a painting that was not vibrant, whose edges are dull. I wasn’t living my full life.”

On her New Year’s resolution:
“Taking the worry of the world on my shoulders is not right. My New Year’s resolution is to stay humble and be joyous, whether that’s spending time with family, hiking, driving around, listening to music, or playing with my dog. It’s so important to take care of ourselves that way.”

On staying positive:
“Accentuating the positive and eliminating as much negative as possible. I think I got to that place by not being happy with the other side – hating your body and criticizing yourself all the time. When I was around 18, I looked in the mirror and said, ‘You’re either going to love yourself or hate yourself.’ And I decided to love myself. That changed a lot of things.”

On how she views her body:
“For a lot of the things I’ve wanted to do in life, I haven’t looked typical. I was not born a size 2. I’m not skinny, period. I’m not willing to sleep with the director or step on somebody else’s neck to get the job.”

Selena Gomez for TEEN VOGUE [December Issue]

Selena Gomez covers the December issue of TEEN VOGUE.

Gomezhas been in the entertainment business for well over 10-years. And even though she’s been singing and acting on our television screens for more than a decade, Gomez says she is just getting started.

Check out some highlights from her Teen Vogue interview below!

On finding love:
“You fall in love and it completely consumes you. So a part of you is broken when that’s gone. And part of you wants to have that rebellious feeling where you’re just like, forget it- I can do anything I want. I’ve tried it, and I’ve never been that girl. I’m always going to be the girl you want to take home to your parents, not for the night.”

On Taylor Swift:
“The difference between Taylor and me is she was sixteen with the confidence of a 25-year-old. Actually I should say 80-year-old because she’s such an old soul. I was not that way. I was very sheltered until about eighteen or nineteen. I still live at home, and I’m 21! She does inspire me like crazy, but I wouldn’t change my path because it allowed me to figure out all that stuff and do it on my own.”

On her love for junk food:
“I eat junk. I’m from the South, so I love Mexican food, greasy pasta, and fried things. I do try, every now and then, to put something in my body that will be good, but, honestly, I’ve never liked working out. I need to be active in some way, though – that’s why I kind of secretly do it for my show. We have thirteen choreographed pieces, and it’s a 90-minute set. I consider that my workout!”

Khloe Kardashian gives her bully Perez Hilton a piece of her mind

For weeks, Perez Hilton has been stating that he will no longer be the “out there” blogger most have come to know him as. Hilton even decided to ask some celebrities to make “It Gets Better” videos to speak out against all the bullying that has occurred lately.

However, the blogger got more than he bargained for when he asked TV personality Khloe Kardashian to make a video. Khloe, flipped the tables on Hilton and named him as her bully. here’s what the Kardashian sister had to say:

“For me, Perez has been my personal bully,” Khloe says. “I’ve been bullied basically my entire life. I’ve been compared to my sisters since the day I was born. I don’t look exactly like them, I’m different from them, I’m bigger than them, but I’m me,” she continued. “I’ve always struggled with my height, with my weight, with my skin color. Everybody has something to say. And Perez is a major factor in my adult life. As an adult I thought that bullying would be done, but in my world it’s not done because I live in a world where there’s magazines and blogs and people feel like they’re allowed to criticize me in the meanest way. Perez has given me the nickname of the transvestite, as the tranny. Writing fugly on my face (pics), things that are very hurtful to me. Then it also lets his followers think ‘oh that’s my name now’ and they can call me that and they can attack me. Perez definitely has made my self esteem lower. at times. He’s definitely made me feel insecure about things, and made me not even want to go out. Because I knew the next day, if I took one bad picture he would have something written about me on his website that definitely hurts my feelings”.

If all these suicides didn’t give Hilton, and other media outlets like him, a wake-up call, there’s no telling what will.
