‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ Off to A Good Start
Monday (Sept. 9) marked the return of Arsenio Hall to late night television.
Hall, 57, was back in his element as he interviewed Snoop Lion, and Chris Tucker for his first show. Even Jay Leno, Paula Abdul and Tara Reid made some impromptu appearances. But the real talk-of-the-town has been Hall’s ratings.
On Monday, The Arsenio Hall Show averaged a 1.0 rating with viewers between the ages of 18 and 49.
That rating was bigger in those cities than Jimmy Kimmel on ABC (0.8); Jay Leno on NBC (0.6); or David Letterman on CBS (0.5).
In addition, Mr. Hall’s overall rating of a 1.9 almost doubled what the stations in his lineup had averaged a year ago: a 1.0.
According to Variety, the show did well in some of the largest markets, including Los Angeles, where it was the No. 1 show in its 11 p.m. timeslot on KTLA with a 3.2 household rating/9 share — up about 90% from its local news lead-in (1.7/4). Among the top 20 markets, the only ones to fare better were Cleveland (4.6/10) and Chicago (3.3/6).
Overall, Hall has proven that even after nearly 20-years away from late night, he still has what it takes to pull in viewers.
The Arsenio Hall Show airs week nights at 11 p.m. Check your local listings for air times.
