Two ‘Hercules’ Films to Hit Theaters in 2014


It’s the battle of the Hercules films, with two movies centered around the Greek hero.

Hercules: The Legend Begins stars Kellan Lutz in the titular role. The film is slated to hit theaters in March 2014. The film also stars Gaia Weiss, and Scott Adkins.

Hercules: The Legend Begins Synopsis:

When prince Hercules learns of his real identity, he must choose to flee with his true love – Hebe, Princess of Crete – or to fulfill his destiny by overthrowing the tyrannical rule of the king and restoring peace to a land in hardship.

Meanwhile, Hercules: The Thracian Wars starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role hits theaters in July 25, 2014. This version also stars  Joseph Fiennes, and John Hurt,

Hercules: The Thracian Wars Synopsis:

Having enduring his legendary twelve labors, Hercules, the Greek demigod, has his life as a sword-for-hire tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord.

Johnson’s last handful of films have been some of the world’s largest grossing films, while Lutz doesn’t have the same star-power behind his name. Who do you think will make more money at the box office?

Denzel Washington’s Son Nabs Role on HBO Pilot



John David Washington is taking after his dear old dad.

The son of Denzel Washington has nabbed his first major acting role in HBO’s pilot show, Baller.
John David Washington will be playing the ‘Ricky;’ a highly competitive and highly spiritual pro athlete. Washington will be joined by former UCLA Bruins footballer Donovan Carter, will play ‘Vernon;’ a deeply family oriented pro-athlete, and actor-wrestler Dwayne Johnson is spearheading the project.

Ballers is a 30-minute dramedy that follows the lives of several Miami-based athletes.

The show is a joint project by  Mark Wahlberg and Entourage producer Stephen Levinson.

Washington played football at Morehouse College and went on to have a career with the NFL team, the St. Louis Rams. He has a small part in the 1992 film, Malcolm X, alongside his father.



Dwayne Johnson Shares Photo from ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ Set


For the past few weeks, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been filming the new Hercules: the Thracian Wars film overseas. Aside from the actors, not that much information has been revealed about the set, costumes or the movie.

However, over the weekend, Johnson shared a photo of himself (with his back turned of course) sporting a wig on set.

He also revealed that the set had been created by award-winning designer Jean Vincent Puzos.  He wrote, “Our HERCULES set is created by award winning designer Jean-Vincent Puzos w/ great detail and respect for Greek mythology. I sit in awe.. #ThracianWars #SonOfZeus.”

Movie Synopsis:

Fourteen hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules was the powerful son of the god king Zeus, for this he received nothing but suffering his entire life. After twelve arduous labours and the loss of his family, this dark, world-weary soul turned his back on the gods finding his only solace in bloody battle. Over the years he warmed to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death. These men and women never question where they go to fight or why or whom, just how much they will be paid. Now the King of Thrace has hired these mercenaries to train his men to become the greatest army of all time. It is time for this bunch of lost souls to finally have their eyes opened to how far they have fallen when they must train an army to become as ruthless and blood thirsty as their reputation has become. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Covers ESSENCE Magazine



Dwayne Johnson flashed his million-dollar smile on the new cover of Essence magazine.

Johnson’s show The Hero has been a hit with fans and he has been hitting the gym hard as he film the new Hercules movie.

The actor-wrestler spoke with Essence ‘s senior writer Jeannine Amber on what he wants in a woman, what he loves about Black women and much more.

On the type of women he likes:

“…..engaging in good conversation” is essential in a healthy relationship, but “embracing the power of kissing” doesn’t hurt.

On what he needs and wants in a relationship:

“I want someone who can trust that my big hands are going to take care of them.”

On how his divorce helped him be a better man:

“I want to be a man who is truthful and who won’t let pride get in the way of my ripping myself open to my partner and saying, ‘Here I am. This is me.’ I feel there’s something powerful when a man reaches a point in his life when he can be completely vulnerable.”

Irina Shayk Cast as Megara in Upcoming ‘Hercules’ Film

Jason Statham to Star in “Fast and Furious 7”

The Fast and Furious franchise will live on to see another day. And now  actor Jason Statham has been tapped to star in Fast & Furious 7.

This news comes via a hint from current franchise star Michelle Rodriguez.

Rodriguez  seemed to confirm Statham’s casting while promoting  Fast & Furious 6. She  tells ”Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson – when you see these guys in a room you know they belong together. You can see in their eyes that they have gone through a lot. I applaud Universal for getting him on board.”

No word on who Statham will play, but rumor has it, his character will somehow be related to Fast & Furious 6 villain Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).

According to reports, Fast & Furious 7 will begin production this summer for a 2014 release.

Fast & Furious 7 will be spearheaded by Saw director James Wan.
