Actor Patrick Dempsey Leaving Grey’s Anatomy?

Grey’s Anatomy won’t be the same after next season.   Patrick Dempsey, who plays McDreamy on the ABC series, confirmed that his future on the show after the 2011-2012 season wraps is uncertain.

“It [season 8] will be my last one,” said Dempsey in the new issue of Patrick was quoted as saying in the new issue of Italian Vanity Fair.

Patrick doesn’t know about the other actors on the show, “but for me, it’s over,” he added.

Dempsey did admit that the thought of  leaving the hit series was “bittersweet,” since it has been part of his life.

On Monday, various stories of  Patrick’s departure circulated the web, but his rep tells a different story.
“He was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season and we have no idea what the future holds,” the rep said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

Creator Shonda Rhimes has not confirmed or denied any departures, but she did tell TV Line that the contracts for a few of the original cast members will be up after this coming season.
“It might be the last hurrah for a lot of them; you never know,” she said. “I really don’t know and I don’t presume to know. Everybody has an individual choice to make and I get that… All the originals are in play.”
It does appear, however, that Patrick may officially be done with at least one business venture.

If you’re going through McDreamy withdrawals, you can catch him in the new Transformers movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which hits  on June 29.
