Ewan McGregor to Make Broadway Debut In ‘The Real Thing’

Ewan McGregor is finally headed to Broadway.

The actor will make his debut in Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing. Previews for the show begin October 2, 2014, at the American Airlines Theatre.

The Real Thing originally premiered in 1982 in London. It won the 1984 Tony Award for Best Play. Sam Gold will serve as director for the new version of the show, which will officially open October 30, 2014, and run through January 4, 2015.

According to Deadline, McGregor will play ‘Henry,’ a playwright not so happily married to Charlotte, the lead actress in his play about a marriage on the verge of collapse. When Henry’s affair with their friend Annie threatens to destroy his own marriage, he discovers that life has started imitating art. After Annie leaves her husband so she and Henry can begin a new life together, he can’t help but wonder whether their love is fiction or the real thing.

The rest of the cast of The Real Thing has not been announced. McGregor is now filming Mortdecai opposite Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Penelope Cruz Covers Vogue US

Actress Penelope Cruz sports a clean look on the June 2011 issue of Vogue magazine [US Edition]. Why did I say a “clean” look? Well, if you look closely, you can see her freckles which would normally be edited out or covered with make-up. It’s good to see Vogue show its readers Cruz in her true form. Check out some snippets from the interview below.

On motherhood: “From the first second, you feel so much love. It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment—when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”

On discovering she was pregnant whilst filming ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’: “I was pregnant and a pirate. It was a beautiful experience.”

On balancing motherhood and working: “Of course I will work, because we all need to work. But it’s very important to have time with my family.”
