Demi Lovato Covers the WInter Issue of LATINA

Demi Lovato talks babies with LATINA magazine.

The singer-actress opens up about playing a lesbian on GLEE, whether or not she wants kids and on the Lovato Treatment Scholarship.

Check out some of her Latina highlights.

On kissing Naya:
“Yes, we kissed in the first episode, but I want people to pay less attention to the fact that I’m kissing a girl. Focus on the fact that having a young, multicultural lesbian couple on prime time is a huge step in our generation. It’s showing people that it’s ok to be who you are. Don’t be ashamed of it.”

On the Lovato Treatment Scholarship:
“The process is getting them through treatment, giving them the support that they need. Just making sure they get their two feet on the ground.”

On visiting Kenya with Free the Children:
“At one point this little boy named Ian came over. I picked him up and we just connected. He was so sweet and he kept saying my name over and over again. It was really hard to say good-bye to him. They also held a birthday celebration for me. They gave me a goat, which was pretty cool!”

On planning for the future:
“I’m a Texas girl, so my instinct is to have babies early. In my heart I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s time to have babies!’ But it’s not. I have so much life ahead of me that I actually have to slow my roll. We’ll see where my life is in 5 years, but I definitely see myself as a mom in 10.”

Naya Rivera for LATINA Magazine [October ]

Glee star Naya Rivera  graces the October cover of LATINA magazine.

Now that the  upcoming season of her FOX series is just weeks away from its premiere date, Rivera has a lot to talk about. Aside from working on her music career, the actress chatted with the magazine  about her dreams, breaking down boundaries and much more.

Check out some highlights from her interview with the mag below!

On Her Playlist-

“I love singing Adele and Lana Del Rey is super dope. And Top 40 stuff. I get influences when I am writing from everywhere; I listen to so much music that it’s easy to just grab what you need.

On Her DVR

“I watch Girls, House of Cards, Modern Family, and American Horror Story I love; even TV movies are so good.”

 On humble upbringings-

“I had a great childhood and have a great family. My siblings are awesome and no matter what happened financially we always made the best of it.”

On being in the Kitchen-

“I like cooking everything. I get on food blogs and save recipes and go back and make them. I make fried chicken, I’m in charge of the macaroni and cheese on holidays. I can make lasagnas and pastas – I’m a good cook!”

On fulfilling the dreams on her vision board-

“I had made a vision board in 2006 or 2007 after I graduated high school. In 2008 I found it. I looked at it and I could take everything off from the board.”

On breaking down boundaries-

“When people look at me, I genuinely think they don’t see me as anything other than Naya which is crazy and so cool. I feel like I’ve gotten to a place where I have transcended color lines and it’s a big testament to playing a lesbian character on TV because everyone’s so accepting of everything and I think that’s beautiful.”

This issue of Latina hits newsstands on Sept. 10.

Evelyn Lozada Covers LATINA Magazine [August]

Evelyn Lozada is Latina magazine’s August covergirl.

Latina‘s Facebook page has been inundated with messages criticizing the publication’s choice to put Lozada on the cover. Many see her as a bully and a bad representation.

However,  during her interview Lozada speaks candidly about the poor choices she’s made in the past, the abuse she faced at the hands of her ex-husband and the foundation she’s working on establishing.

On her feelings after the violent abuse of her ex-husband during an argument: “At that point, I knew my life would never be the same. I knew the world was going to laugh at me and be mean and nasty and blame me for everything. But I had no choice. I had to go to the hospital.”

On her behavior during the filming of Basketball Wives: “I’m not going to blame VH1—whatever I put out there, I put out there. When we were in the middle of an argument, I wasn’t thinking, ‘Maybe this is going to be hurtful.’ I was thinking, ‘You’re not gonna beat me in this argument!’ ”

On the public reaction that she somehow provoked her husband’s abusive behavior: “A lot of people connected my previous actions on the show to this. If they were talking about the incident on the news, there would be a clip of me acting a fool on Basketball Wives. I never lifted a finger at him.”

On why she plans to start a foundation dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence called Pain Is Not Love: “I get e-mails every single day from women who are still with their abusive partner and they’re like, ‘I need help.’”

On trying to reform her life with the help of life coach Tony Gaskins, Jr. and being re-baptized: “Tony was talking to me about soul ties, and I felt like I needed to cut that cord [with Johnson]. I wanted to do things differently, to start over. I’m still going to be Evelyn, but I have a different vision of my life.”
