Laura Dern and Ben Harper have finalized their divorce. This comes after the pair spent more than a year trying to reconcile.
Harper, 43, served Dern with divorce papers back in 2010; blindsiding the actress after five years of marriage. In 2012, however, the couple made an attempt to get back together.
They tried to work things out, but a few months later Dern decided she wanted out filed a response to her husband’s original divorce petition, TMZ reported.
Dern, 46, asked for primary custody of their kids, but the terms and conditions of their divorce settlement is confidential. Dern and Harper have two children together.
Talk about pouring salt in the wound. News broke earlier this week that Ben Harper filed for divorce from wife Laura Dern and now we know why. It seems as though Harper just lost interest in Dern, reports Us Weekly.
An unknown source had this to day about Harper’s decision to dissolve the marriage:
“The marriage became a chore — it lost passion and he got bored. He loves their kids (son Ellery, 9, and daughter Jaya, 5) and loves her, but wasn’t in love with her anymore.”
Harper has been spending a substantial amount of time on a promotional tour with his new band Fistful of Mercy. Touring and not being home with Dern ultimately took its toll on the marriage.
The source’s statements continue below:
. “Now he doesn’t have time for her,” the source told Us Weekly. “He wants someone in the music world who he’ll have more in common with.”
The couple have reportedly separated since January 2010.
