Demi Lovato talks babies with LATINA magazine.
The singer-actress opens up about playing a lesbian on GLEE, whether or not she wants kids and on the Lovato Treatment Scholarship.
Check out some of her Latina highlights.
On kissing Naya:
“Yes, we kissed in the first episode, but I want people to pay less attention to the fact that I’m kissing a girl. Focus on the fact that having a young, multicultural lesbian couple on prime time is a huge step in our generation. It’s showing people that it’s ok to be who you are. Don’t be ashamed of it.”
On the Lovato Treatment Scholarship:
“The process is getting them through treatment, giving them the support that they need. Just making sure they get their two feet on the ground.”
On visiting Kenya with Free the Children:
“At one point this little boy named Ian came over. I picked him up and we just connected. He was so sweet and he kept saying my name over and over again. It was really hard to say good-bye to him. They also held a birthday celebration for me. They gave me a goat, which was pretty cool!”
On planning for the future:
“I’m a Texas girl, so my instinct is to have babies early. In my heart I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s time to have babies!’ But it’s not. I have so much life ahead of me that I actually have to slow my roll. We’ll see where my life is in 5 years, but I definitely see myself as a mom in 10.”
Reality competition series, Styled To Rock, has found a new home.
The show, executive produced by Rihanna, focuses on fashion design. Each week, contestants compete with one another to create the best outfit for a famous music act. Only half of the contestants will have the opportunity to show the musical act their design, the other half will be up for elimination.
The show will premiere on BRAVO on Friday, October 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Super producer Pharrell Williams will serve as a mentor for the reality show. Each contestant (the show starts out with 12) was hand picked by Rihanna herself.
Some of this season’s celebrity guests include, Naya Rivera, Carely Rae Jepsen, Ne-Yo, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Miley Cyrus, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Osbourne, The Band Perry, and Nervo.
The overall winner will receive $100,000 cash, a fashion feature in Glamour magazine and the chance to become the next member of Rihanna’s design team.
Now that the upcoming season of her FOX series is just weeks away from its premiere date, Rivera has a lot to talk about. Aside from working on her music career, the actress chatted with the magazine about her dreams, breaking down boundaries and much more.

On humble upbringings-
“I had a great childhood and have a great family. My siblings are awesome and no matter what happened financially we always made the best of it.”
On being in the Kitchen-
“I like cooking everything. I get on food blogs and save recipes and go back and make them. I make fried chicken, I’m in charge of the macaroni and cheese on holidays. I can make lasagnas and pastas – I’m a good cook!”
On fulfilling the dreams on her vision board-
“I had made a vision board in 2006 or 2007 after I graduated high school. In 2008 I found it. I looked at it and I could take everything off from the board.”
On breaking down boundaries-
“When people look at me, I genuinely think they don’t see me as anything other than Naya which is crazy and so cool. I feel like I’ve gotten to a place where I have transcended color lines and it’s a big testament to playing a lesbian character on TV because everyone’s so accepting of everything and I think that’s beautiful.”
This issue of Latina hits newsstands on Sept. 10.
Make way for Dantana!
Naya Rivera posted a photo via her Instagram account of Demi Lovato and herself on the set of GLEE.
During a red carpet interview at the 2013 VMAs, Rivera revealed that Lovato would be her character’s love interest on the FOX series.
“She’s playing my love interest, so I’m very, very excited about that. We get to sing a song together. It’s gonna be good.”
No word on what Lovato’s character’s name will be, but underneath the photo Naya wrote “Dantana?” which is a combination of her character’s name (Santana) and Lovato’s first name.
Lovato will be playing a struggling New York artist, who also becomes friends with Rachel (Lea Michele). The X Factor judge will also share scenes with fellow guest-star, Adam Lambert.
Lovato will make her first appearance on the October 3 episode of GLEE.
“She’s playing my [character Santana’s] love interest so I’m very, very excited about that,” says Rivera with a smirk.
She continued, “We get to sing a song together… I’m excited to work with her. We’re bringing her to the dark side,” noted Rivera.
Lovato will make her first appearance during the show’s Beatles-themed episode. Apparently, the X Factor judge will be singing one of the band’s hit songs.
Rivera also dished on the new music she is currently working on.
