Singer Chris Brown has been trampled on by the media as of late, but it seems as though one of the people you’d least expect to defend him has. And who is that person? None other than Rosie O’Donnell. O’Donnell vocalized her thoughts on Brown’s situation on her radio show, stating that she feels his “haters” might be racist.
“I just don’t know why this kid seems to be held to a different standard than anyone else,” O’Donnell said on her Sirius XM show Rosie Radio.
Rosie’s executive producer did imply that race ism might be why Chris has been treated the way he has, Rosie replied: “I totally think there is, and I also think it’s why he felt he was safer with Robin Roberts [who is also African-American].” Rosie added that she felt “mildly angry” at Robin while watching her interview Chris.
A TV insider for PopEater.com had this to say about Rosie’s thoughts on Brown.
“Chris Brown violently beat his girlfriend and almost threw a chair through a window and currently has the number one album on the Billboard charts, and Rosie feels sorry for him because he is black?” said the TV insider. “This kid is rich and powerful and keeps getting away with bad behavior. If Rosie was backstage at ‘GMA’ when the staff was so frightened they had to call the police, she would be singing a very different tune. This has nothing to do with the color of his skin but rather his disgraceful behavior.”
It’s no secret that rumors os being a lesbian have plagued Oprah Winfrey for years. Many have thought that Winfrey and her best friend, Gayle King, have been in a relationship. However, during an in-depth interview Barbara Walters, Winfrey puts the rumors to rest.
“I’m not even kind of a lesbian,” Winfrey tells Barbara Walters during an upcoming interview on ABC. “And the reason why [the rumor] irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two … why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”
During the interview, the talk show hosts went on to speak highly of her BFF Gayle.
“She is … the mother I never had. She is … the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person. I don’t know a better person,” Winfrey says while choking up.
“It’s making me cry because I’m thinking about … how much … I probably have never told her that. Tissue, please. I now need tissue. I’ve never told her that.”
This candid interview with Oprah Winfrey airs Thursday, December 9 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
Actress Rosario Dawson and former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell spent a little time with some youngsters at P.S. 122 on April 12, 2010 in New York City. Dawson, O’Donnell and Councilwoman Rosie Mendez were at the school to attend Everything’s Coming Up Rosie(s)!
I’m not a make-up person either, but O’Donnell could have at least put a comb through her head…
