‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ Off to A Good Start

arseniohall-43

Monday (Sept. 9) marked the return of Arsenio Hall to late night television.

Hall, 57, was back in his element as he interviewed Snoop Lion, and Chris Tucker for his first show. Even  Jay Leno, Paula Abdul and Tara Reid made some impromptu appearances. But the real talk-of-the-town has been Hall’s ratings.

On Monday, The Arsenio Hall Show  averaged a 1.0 rating with viewers between the ages of 18 and 49.

That rating was bigger in those cities than Jimmy Kimmel on ABC (0.8); Jay Leno on NBC (0.6); or David Letterman on CBS (0.5).
In addition, Mr. Hall’s overall rating of a 1.9 almost doubled what the stations in his lineup had averaged a year ago: a 1.0.

According to Variety, the show did  well in some of the largest markets, including Los Angeles, where it was the No. 1 show in its 11 p.m. timeslot on KTLA with a 3.2 household rating/9 share — up about 90% from its local news lead-in (1.7/4). Among the top 20 markets, the only ones to fare better were Cleveland (4.6/10) and Chicago (3.3/6).

Overall, Hall has proven that even after nearly 20-years away from late night, he still has what it takes to pull in viewers.

The Arsenio Hall Show airs week nights at 11 p.m. Check your local listings for air times.

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) to honor Cash Money’s Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams with the Icon Award.

Broadcast Music, Inc., (BMI), will present the BMI Icon Award to Cash Money’s Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams at the 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards on Thursday, August 22, at the Manhattan Center in New York City.

BMI selects recipients based on their “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.”  These two men will join an elite list of previous winners, some of which include Mariah Carey, the Jacksons, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Little Richard, and Al Green.

“Bryan and Ronald Williams’ creative and entrepreneurial acumen has resulted in over 20 years of global success for them personally, and for their enterprise, Cash Money Records. I’m personally thrilled to recognize two individuals I’ve seen achieve so much success in their careers. Their innate ability to cultivate talent, build and sustain a brand while composing chart-topping songs is an accomplishment worthy of the Icon designation,” said Catherine Brewton, BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Atlanta.

“It’s absolutely incredible to be honored in this fashion. Cash Money Records is a family first and foremost, and we share this achievement with our entire team and roster. It’s because of the immensely talented artists we’re blessed to work with that we’re in this position, and I want to thank them. They deserve this as much as we do. We also want to thank BMI and everybody who’s ever believed in this dream that my brother and I first had over 20 years ago. We’re going to keep everything going even stronger for the next 20,” said Bryan “Birdman”
Williams.

“This recognition from BMI is one of the greatest honors we’ve ever received. It’s something that my brother and I would’ve never been able to imagine at the genesis of our label. To be recognized by the industry like this, it’s humbling, and it’s inspiring. We want to thank BMI, every artist on our roster, Universal, and anyone else who’s been a part of Cash Money Records’ success,” said Ronald “Slim” Williams.

The New Orleans natives and brothers Bryan “Birdman” and Ronald “Slim” Williams co-founded the
Indie label Cash Money Records in 1991.  In 2012, Cash Money celebrated the sale of 500 million songs worldwide, a feat made possible by its top-tier artists and savvy leadership.
Even though they have been overwhelmingly successful, the Williams Brother always find time to give back to their community. They have hosted a Turkey Giveaway for the past 16 years, where they
personally hand out over 2,000 Thanksgiving turkeys.

The BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will include a star-studded musical tribute to the brothers, as
well as the presentation of the Social Star Award, and R&B/Hip-Hop Songwriter, Producer and Publisher of the Year crystals.
