Janet Jackson received rave reviews after her exhilarating performance at day 1 of the 2010 Essence Music Festival at the Louisiana Superdome on July 2. Jackson performed a medley of tunes, some of which included; “The Pleasure Principle,” “Control” and “Rhythm Nation.” Her performance at the festival solidified the fact that she was made to be on-stage. A male audience member was even treated to a sexy S&M dance and encounter with the Grammy Award-winning singer. Jackson closed out the first day of the festival like no other performer could ever do. The 2010 Essence Music Festival ends on Sunday, July 4.
According to Billboard.com, Jackson had this to say about performing at the festival:
“It means a great deal for me to be in the company of such wonderful women, women who I have the pleasure of knowing personally,” Jackson said. “I’m especially honored to be able to play on a stage that also hosts Gladys Knight. She watched me grow up and I remember her being around the Motown family when I was a kid. It’s definitely an honor.”
