Simone Biles will be competing for a new piece of “medal” – the “Dancing with the Stars” Mirrorball trophy.
The Olympian will be competing in the upcoming season of the hit dancing reality show. She follows in the footsteps of her gymnastics teammate Lauri Hernandez, who won the trophy last season.
Biles wanted to compete last season, but her devotion to gymnastics prevented her from fitting it into her schedule.
Dancing with the Stars premieres March 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Derek Hough is retiring his ‘Dancing with the Stars’ dancing shoes – for now.
The pro-dancer has opted not to return for the upcoming season (No. 24). Hough has been keeping himself busy lately, as he coming off of staring in NBC’s Live version of “Hairspray.” He is also gearing up toe be a judge, alongside Jennifer Lopez on NBC’s ‘World of Dance.’
No word on whether or not Hough will return for Season 25.
Matthew Broderick has joined the upcoming installment of ‘American Crime Story.’
He has been tapped to play Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director Michael D. Brown in ‘Katrina: American Crime Story.’ Brown was in charge of the government’s response to the disaster and was widely criticized for his efforts, or lack thereof.
Broderick joins Annette Bening, who will play Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco,
“Katrina: American Crime Story” is slated to air in 2018.
Rihanna will be presented with Harvard University’s 2017 Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The 29-year-old singer will accept the Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award at a ceremony on campus next Tuesday.
“Rihanna has charitably built a state-of-the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,” said Harvard Foundation director S. Allen Counter.
Rihanna has done a plethora of philanthropic work. She created the Clara Lionel Foundation in honor of her grandparents, in an effort to improve health, and arts and culture.
Recently, she traveled to Malawi to promote education on behalf of her foundation and as the ambassador for Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education.
Prior to that, Rihanna teamed up with Prince Harry on World AIDS Day in Barbados, where the two did an HIV finger-prick test “to show how easy it is to be tested for HIV,” Kensington Palace announced.
Move over Cookie, because Demi Moore is heading to “EMPIRE.”
Actress Demi Moore returns to television in her first recurring role since she was on “General Hospital” in 1982.
Moore will make her first appearance on this season’s finale. Her character is said to be “a take-charge nurse with a mysterious past,” with her character becoming more prominent next season.
Moore’s daughter Rumer Willis is also appearing on the show next season.
“EMPIRE” returns for its midseason premiere on Wednesday, March 22.
David Cassidy has revealed that he is battling dementia.
The actor, 66, was a huge teen hearthrob in the 1970s during (and after) his stint on the series “The Partridge Family.”
Both Cassidy’s mother and grandfather battled the disease. He revealed to PEOPLE that he was in denial but always knew he’d end up with dementia.
Just this past weekend, during a show in California, Cassidy had trouble remembering the lyrics to songs he has been singing for decades. Cassidy has now decided to stop touring, musically, to focus on his health.
Angela Lansbury will be having a jolly holiday with Mary Poppins.
The veteran actress has joined the cast of the upcoming reboot “Mary Poppins Returns” where she will be playing a character named the Balloon Lady who causes mayhem in the park while Mary Poppins has one of her fun-filled outings.
“Mary Poppins Returns” takes place about 20 years after the original film and will pull from P.L. Travers’ book series about Poppins coming bak to help a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks.
Lansbury joins fellow cast members Emily Blunt, Lin Manuel, Meryl Streep, Dick Van Dyke, and Colin Firth.
Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters December 2, 2018.
